Description

Our Athena Kaftan in Desi Cotton is a celebration of effortless, timeless elegance. Created in collaboration with Studio Itiha, a natural dyeing studio in Pune, India, each piece is entirely handmade - from loom weaving the cotton, to naturally dyeing it with locally sourced flora, to hand-sewing by the talented team at Anubhuti, a women’s NGO in India.

The loose silhouette falls gracefully to the ankles, subtly highlighting the body’s shape as you move, with a surplice neckline that adds a touch of understated allure. This kaftan is created using the natural ombre dyeing technique, celebrating the gentle flow of color - a reflection of how moments, moods, and memories softly transition through our lives. Inspired by 1960s bohemian style, it’s perfect for celebrations, everyday elegance, or special moments that last a lifetime.

Artisanal Notes

Our naturally dyed collection is the result of a collaboration with natural dying studio - Studio Itiha, based in pune, India.

Studio Itiha is rooted in the belief that nature holds everything we need. Their work brings back age-old dyeing traditions that have been part of Indian culture for centuries. Using natural dyes sourced locally and in abundance, they go a step further by incorporating food waste, plant matter, and temple flower waste into their processes - transforming what would be discarded into something beautiful.

Through this collaboration, we aim to unite our shared values and belief in a better way of creating, offering you unique, timeless pieces to cherish and wear at life’s most memorable moments for years to come.

Materials & Care

This Kafi Folk garment is crafted from handloom woven desi cotton, naturally dyed with madder using the ombre effect technique. To keep your piece vibrant and long-lasting:

  • Hand wash only in cold water (max 30°C / 86°F) using a mild, pH-neutral detergent.
  • Wash separately for the first few washes to prevent color transfer.
  • Do not soak for long periods.
  • Air dry flat or hang in shade, away from direct sunlight.
  • Iron on low to medium heat while the fabric is slightly damp, or use a cloth to protect the surface.
