Sewing Something New - One Stitch At A Time
If you've been following along over these last months as I've settled into Lisbon, you'll know that there has been a lot happening behind the scenes at Kafi Folk. Transitioning always takes time, and whilst some of the changes have been visible, many have been taking shape in the background. Step by step (and literally stich by stitch) , I've been building towards something that I've been wanting to do for a long time. And now, I'm ready to finally take the leap!
Over the coming month, Kafi Folk will be fully stepping into a way of working that allows us to create small-batch stock and focus more deeply on the things that inspire me most: natural fibres, natural dyes and thoughtful craftsmanship.
A Love Of Textiles - A Personal Passion
Over the years, I've explored many different textile traditions and fabric qualities alongside the block prints that have become so loved within our collections. Some of you may remember the handwoven fabrics I've shared from my travels. Others may remember the naturally dyed silks, woven cottons, woollen knits and textile experiments that occasionally appeared along the way. Whilst block prints became our signature, my curiosity never stopped there.
And now, as everything evolves, so does my desire to offer a variety of fabrics in our collections and drops that are created as naturally as possible using handcrafted techniques and dyes. I'm moving towards a even more focused approach to materials, craftsmanship and production - one that allows me to work more closely with the values I believe all fashion brands should practice.
In many ways, this isn't a new direction at all; it's simply allowing years of exploration to become a bigger part of the brand whilst creating a production structure that aligns more closely with my values and allows the brand to grow.
What This Means For You - Pre Order Time Line
As we build our new team in Mumbai and Lisbon and prepare the next collection of beauties, we'll only be able to take on a limited number of pre-orders over the coming weeks. For this reason, we are taking a final round of pre-orders for our Into The Azul collection, with all orders shipping on 15th July - pre order open until Monday at midnight.
After that, we will only have a small selection of our bestselling block prints available online, with the next shipping date for our block print collection in August. So, if you've had your eye on a piece from our Into The Azul collection, or one of our bestselling maxi kaftans, now is the time to place your order.
