At Kafi Folk, we create hand block–printed kaftans, made to order with intention. Our collections are crafted using hand-block printed cottons sourced from our partners in Jaipur - every piece is finished with handmade tassels, created slowly and with care.
Our designs are made to fit sizes S–L, with detailed measurements provided to help you find your perfect fit. We release 2–3 seasonless collections each year, alongside occasional special drops.
How We Started
It all began with 10 meters of fabric - and a simple idea: to create a dress that all women could feel both beautiful and comfortable in.
Kafi Folk was founded in 2019 in Budapest by creative director Maxine Andrea. What started in her apartment as intimate, private appointments quickly became something more - women gathering over tea and coffee, connecting through conversation, and trying on one dress: our signature maxi kaftan.
Within six months, Maxine was hosting up to four appointments a day. After more than 200 visits, it became clear it was time to grow. The webshop was born and soon after, so was our relationship with India, where we discovered the beauty of hand block–printed fabrics that now define our collections.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside artisans across India, Ghana, and Hungary- from block printers in Jaipur to grass weavers in Ghana, knitters in Himachal Pradesh, loom weavers and natural dyers across regions. We tried and tested styles and accessories and each collaboration has deepened our respect for handmade craft and reinforced our belief of how important it is to preserve and uplifted handmade.
When we place orders with artisan partners, it creates more than garments - it supports families, strengthens communities, and helps traditional skills continue to thrive. This is at the heart of everything we do.
We’ve shaped our way of working around this understanding, and around something we deeply believe: that everything good takes time. That’s why we create each piece using a made-to-order model, with a 3–4 week lead time - allowing every garment to be crafted with care, intention, and attention to detail.
Along the way, we’ve come to know your preferences too - the colours you love, the prints that inspire you, and the silhouettes that feel most like you. And through it all, one style has remained your constant favourite: our signature maxi kaftan.
