About
Founded in 2019 in Budapest, Hungary, by English-Hungarian founder and creative director Maxine Andrea, Kafi Folk is an artisanal fashion brand built on three pillars: Craft, Community, and Culture.
Through her travels and experiences, Maxine has cultivated a deep passion for craft and the stories behind it. Shes seen and experienced first hand, how craft can bring a community together, preserve culture and tradition, and help families build a thriving environment. When we bring our orders to artisan communities, families can flourish, communities can grow, and entire regions can prosper. By creating in this way, we not only safeguard culture and tradition, but also encourage growth, opportunity, and goodness for everyone involved - this is, above all, the heart of our mission.
Kafi Folk works closely with skilled artisans in India and Hungary (and wherever the journey takes us!), offering small-batch collections and drops throughout the year. Each piece we create begins as a single sample, co-created with local artisans to honor their techniques, rhythms, and traditions. We offer pre-orders allowing these handcrafted garments to come to life, with delivery timelines of 3–6 weeks depending on the artisan’s required timeline and process.
Kafi Folk celebrates and creates with a variety of textiles such as: hand-blocked cotton, naturally dyed loom-woven eri silk, linen, hemp, and embroidered fabrics. Each garment carries the story of its making: the raw fibers, the hand-spun threads, the careful block prints, and the intricate weaving. To Maxine, luxury is found in intentional making, in using top-quality natural fibres, and in helping artisan communities flourish.
The result is clothing that allows women to feel beautiful, comfortable, and rooted in heritage. Wearing clothing with a story feels different. Once you wear one of our pieces, you will know. All our designs are thoughtfully created to fit sizes S–L and each product description provides detailed measurements.
Looking ahead, Maxine will soon extend her passion beyond garments, offering cultural and textile journeys from October 2026, allowing others to experience the craft, culture, and communities that inspire Kafi Folk firsthand.
Craft. Culture. Community. One garment that embodies it all.
